Carrywatch tracks private equity and buyout deals: who bought whom, who sold, and where the deal stands. Every entry here started as a post on @carrywatch on X, and each deal page links back to that post. When a deal is only reported talks, we label it that way. If a post doesn't say something, we leave that field blank instead of guessing.
Founder
Ricardo Waglay is the founder of Carrywatch. He tracks private equity buyouts and posts each one as it breaks, naming the buyer and the seller and saying where the deal actually stands. He's based in Los Angeles.
He got his start in private equity as the first intern at Butterfly Equity. He worked on the firm's acquisition of ePac Flexible Packaging, Butterfly's first platform investment in packaging, which closed in January 2026. Along the way he built financial models, researched AI tools for the team, pushed for AI use across the firm, and set up a daily internal newsletter that ran on AI automation.
Before Butterfly he was in FP&A at Chosen Foods. He learned Excel from scratch to support the trade report and helped with SKU rationalization. He also tracked down data errors that had put $8 million in mismatched funds against the wrong product SKUs, and fixed them. He's also worked as a project manager at W3Farm, supporting operations and executive-level projects.
Carrywatch is where that background comes together. He reads deals the way an investor does, and he builds the automation that gets them out fast.
