What happened
Funds managed by Blackstone Credit & Insurance, alongside CPP Investments, OMERS, IMCO and PSP Investments, have agreed to invest $3.1 billion for a 49.9% non-controlling interest in the Mitsubishi Corporation subsidiary that holds its share of LNG Canada.
LNG Canada is the country's first and only large-scale LNG export terminal, and its Phase 2 expansion would double capacity to 28 million tonnes per annum. Mitsubishi Corporation stays the controlling partner and keeps its full share of LNG offtake.
