What happened

Blue Bird Corporation, through its subsidiary Blue Bird Body Company, entered into an asset purchase agreement on Aug. 3, 2026 to acquire certain assets of Detroit Chassis LLC, a Michigan maker of stripped chassis for Ford's F-53 and F-59 vehicles. The base purchase price is $7,000,000 plus assumed liabilities, with closing expected in the first quarter of 2027. [01]

Separately, Blue Bird Body Company signed a Master Collaboration Agreement with Ford, effective July 31, 2026, under which it will take over design and manufacture of the next-generation F-53 and F-59 chassis. New production is anticipated to begin in the first half of 2028. [01]
