Sumitomo Rubber Industries to purchase Goodyear’s Dunlop rights
What happened
Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. signed an agreement with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for the Dunlop brand rights in Europe, North America and Oceania. The transaction covers consumer, commercial and other specialty tires, as well as associated intellectual property and inventory.
The purchase price for the brand rights is $526 million. Sumitomo Rubber Industries will also pay fees and purchase existing Dunlop tire inventory.
