What happened

The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company has agreed to buy Everest Insurance Company of Canada, the Canadian Retail Insurance business of Everest Group, Ltd. The agreement was signed on March 22, 2026, and announced on March 23, 2026. The price is CAD 410 million, subject to adjustment. [01]

Closing still depends on customary conditions, including antitrust approval from the Commissioner of Competition and insurance regulatory approval from the Minister of Finance (Canada).
