What happened
Penguin Solutions has agreed to sell its Cree LED business to Transom Capital Group, an operations-focused middle-market private equity firm, in an all-cash deal. Terms weren't disclosed.
Cree LED makes LED technologies for lighting, displays and specialty applications and will run as a standalone company under Transom. Penguin is narrowing its focus to data center AI infrastructure and memory. Closing is expected in the first calendar quarter of 2027.
